What We’re Looking Forward To In 2022

It’s been another year of surprises, various stages of heightened alert and appreciating the small things, like music in restaurants and gatherings of five. We are happy to be clicking over to a new year - a year that will see some exciting changes for Accela, and also for the clients we represent.
Here’s what the team at Accela is counting down to in 2022:
I'm confident 2022 will bring us a resurgence in travel and economic prosperity. With those will come a sense of gratitude for what we took for granted pre-COVID. Equally, we will have opportunities to learn and explore new ways of living and working.

I’m looking forward to my parents visiting Singapore for the first time. I’ve been here for nearly four years, but we just didn’t find the time in my first year or so, and then the pandemic hit! Now they can come visit under the VTL with the US, so I’m excited to plan out a whole itinerary to show them around and introduce them to my friends who have become my Singapore support system over the last few years.

I’m looking forward to traveling on the VTL to the US to visit my boyfriend who is studying there, as well as having some large group dinners with friends again. I really hope all the pasar malam night markets and festive markets we lost over the pandemic are able to return, too.

I look forward to moving into our new home in 2022 which is currently undergoing renovations. We are really excited and looking forward to it as we have put in quite a lot of time and effort into designing it! So it's really gonna be a new year; new home; new me kind of vibe for me and I can't wait.

I hope that I’ll be able to travel and be with people that I have missed being with for almost two years. It would be amazing to travel to New Zealand and do a dance competition with my dance family. I met them all online during COVID and never got the chance to meet them in person.
I also hope that I grow into my role at work and continue to be helpful to my colleagues. I want to make sure that I am exchanging all the support that I received in my first year at Accela.

I look forward to travelling and taking part in the overseas road or trail races next year, particularly in Japan. I miss the feeling of soaking myself in an onsen after a race to relax my muscles, and unwind with good omakase and sake! I would also like to travel to France to visit my sister and her family, and New Zealand to see my uncle and auntie! I miss them so much!

Many of us share collective hopes and dreams around the pandemic regarding health, freedoms and reunions as we embrace the year ahead. I maintain my position on that but I would be pretty chuffed if the seeds I planted at the beginning of the pandemic (lemon, frangipani, gardenia) bear flowers and fruit in 2022!

Next year I look forward to going into the office every day with the whole team, going for team lunches with the whole team (not just two or five people), traveling back to India to visit my parents and parents-in-law in Delhi and Agra - a trip that has been long-pending.
