5 Minutes With … Vicky Jones

First joining Accela Finance as an Account Executive, Vicky has recently transitioned to a full time role as Finance & Administration Coordinator. In addition to supporting with client invoicing, payroll processing, accounts receivables and payables, Vicky also provides support for Accela Group’s HR administration needs. 

In our latest 5 Minutes With feature, we sit down with Vicky to learn more about her new role and life outside of work.

Tell us a little bit about your role - or should we say roles - with Accela?

For my finance role I look after the ‘month end’ process which is completed at the beginning of the following month you are closing. I ensure that all client invoices are sent out each month and I work on the payroll process from mid month. I also look after Accounts Receivables and Payables. In my extended role I now look after our corporate compliance and internal people processes, and HR function. 

What’s the most inspiring part of your job?

Erin is really inspiring, she has such great passion for the work we do, and I learn a lot from her.

What do you like about working at Accela Group?

I enjoy that it is a small friendly company with staff who believe in the company and its aim. I like how driven everyone is.

What was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Completing expense claims for the staff who looked after musicians/bands for Universal music! It was eye opening seeing things that are expensed when you’re entertaining rock stars.

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

Forensic Scientist. I loved science at school.

What is your soundtrack of choice? 

I don’t have a go to, but my playlist consists of Michael Buble, Jack Johnson, Paolo Nutini and Norah Jones to name a few.

Imagine your perfect night - are you staying in or going out? 

I’m a homebird but I do love going out for dinner so I’d opt for an early dinner out to watch the sunset with a couple of cocktails, then home into my pj’s to watch a movie.

What’s something that’s always in your refrigerator? 

For me personally, milk (for lattes) and ‘good’ chocolate!

Where are you looking forward to traveling when things open up a bit? 

We have actually just booked our first trip in over 2 years! We are headed to Cambodia which has been on our bucket list for a long time and would have been our next trip before COVID hit! It feels surreal to be going away after so long, but I am so happy things are opening up again.
