Accela Team Travels For World Tourism Day

After two years of border closures, mandatory quarantines and testing requirements, we’re so excited to get back out and travel again. Whoever coined the term ‘revenge travel’ was onto something - we’re ready to make up for lost time during the pandemic and start planning adventures again! In celebration of World Tourism Day, we’re rounding up the Accela team’s travel plans for the months ahead to inspire a bit of wanderlust…

“I’m excited that borders have generally been open and everyone is having their turn travelling and experiencing again. I’m super stoked to be travelling to Bali this December, it’s been 5 years since my last visit and I can’t wait to try all the new activities, dining, and entertainment that’ve opened up.” - Abigail Lazarus, Communications Executive

“I am looking forward to my Switzerland trip in October! I cannot wait to soak up the Alpine scenery on my train rides, enjoy Swiss cheese and chocolate, and explore the charming villages and hiking paths.” - Caron Chan, Communications Manager

"’Travel makes you realise that, no matter how much you know, there’s always more to learn. I look forward to travelling to Japan next year and exploring this beautiful country which blends the new age with the culture.” - Deeksha Bhatnagar, Senior Finance Associate

“It’s difficult for me to name a favourite place I’m most excited to visit because I find something I love in each place and feel enriched by every trip. My next trip is with my book club to Hoi An, Vietnam. It’s our second time visiting there as a group, and I can’t wait to be back in Vietnam, which is such a beautiful place, with amazing food, culture and people.” - Erin Padilla, CEO & Co-Founder

“I am looking forward to my trip to Korea in December, and I can’t stop thinking about the activities I’ve planned and the cold weather I am about to experience. Korea has been my favourite country to visit during winter because of the cold weather. I have always loved sitting in an outdoor cafe, enjoying a marshmallow-filled cup of hot chocolate while admiring the scenery. Other than that, the people in Korea are rather friendly (based on my opinion), and I do favour Korean cuisine, especially Korean fried chicken. Shopping is a delight as well! Korea is a country I would never get tired of visiting!” - Jean Ho, Talent Coordinator

“I am looking forward to heading back home to the UK this December and spending Christmas with my family. It’s been three years since I’ve experienced colder climates, so I am excited to wrap up and enjoying the festive magic.” - Jen Stewart, Senior Communications Director

“I am most excited to travel to my year-end vacation destination. Staying away from the hustle and bustle of cities like Bangkok and Phuket, I will be enjoying a little sun and relation in Krabi and Ko Lanta. Having the waves crashing on the shore and waking up to the sounds of nature is very therapeutic, and it’s hard to come by.”  - Jolin Choi, Senior Communications Executive

“I’m most excited to travel through Southeast Asia again and have trips planned to Jakarta and Phuket for the year-end. Prior to Covid, visiting Indonesia and Thailand was an annual affair. A trip there always feels like a warm hug thanks to the hospitality of the locals. It helps that their bar and dining scene are amazing too!” - Katie Boon, Communications Manager

“In October I am flying to Kathmandu, Nepal, for the first time. During Covid, I started an enterprise working with vulnerable teenage girls and I now have the opportunity to meet them in person.  It will be amazing to get to know them better, I really cannot wait.” - Louisa Meredith, Director of Finance & Corporate Services

“Bangkok! I’ve never been, and I heard the night markets are still great, so I’m keen to visit very soon!” - Lydia Lee, Senior HR Associate

“Plans are underway for me and my family to visit my elder sister and her family who have settled in Houston, USA 11 years ago. Hopefully we can make it there next summer. Can't wait!” - Nishanthi Soundarajan, Corporate Secretary Lead

"I am most excited to travel to Greece & Italy, hopefully as an all-in-one package deal so I don't have to claim bankruptcy when I get back to Singapore. I have fallen immeasurably in love with the Greek & Italian culture as well as the food and scenery. I can think of no other place that excites me this much." - Rohan Shaik Aziz, Communications Coordinator

“I would like to go to Venice. I have read a lot about how the city is more well connected by waterways than roadways and I would like to experience that.” - Savitha Raman, Finance Manager

“We’re off to the Great White North and snow-capped, majestic mountains of Whistler in Vancouver, Canada, for a family ski holiday over Christmas and the New Year. As snow-hearty Canadians melting in Singapore, we look forward to freezing fingers, rosy cheeks, layers and layers of clothes, crackling fireplaces, catching snowflakes, and, most importantly, experiencing the best of the great Canadian outdoors! This is our first white-winter wonderland getaway since before Covid.” - Vanessa Mittman, Client Director, Accela Talent
